Problem #1: You Don't Have Different Marketing Funnels For Different People
Let me give you
an example to make this easier to understand.
Prospect A - Finds out about your company
through a magalog. They've already ordered your product through direct
mail so they're a customer. What are you going to send them in the mail
next? This person should be on a seperate buyers list and be getting
offers to not only reinforce their buying decision, but also to sell
them on complimentary products (which should be more expensive).
Prospect B - Finds out about your company
and although he enjoys the information he's gotten, he decides not to
buy. In other words, a "hard sell". This is the kind of person who will
start off buying only cheap items, and should therefore be only
marketed those items. There are various reasons for being cheap buyers
including their income level, the persusasivness of the copy they
receive, trust levels, and other factors.
So if you don't have marketing
funnels for different people, you're losing money. And this leads me to
my next point.
I really hope you're paying
attention because this is important. If you aren't simply "outrageous"
in not only GETTING your customers...but KEEPING them your customers -
you will eventually fail.
You have too many savvy competitors to do anything less than absolutely astonish your customers.
And don't worry, being outrageous doesn't mean you have to dress up like a chicken, get in front of the camera and start break-dancing.
It simply means that whatever offer you put in front of them is something they literally can't take their eyes off.
That way when they see your salesletter, or postcard, or landing page...or whatever medium you're using - it perfectly matches the emotions they're going through at that exact moment.
Because think about it... who would you rather be... the business owner who's putting out the same types of ads as every other competitor in the market... or the one who practically FORCES their prospects to not only read your entire message... but then gives them such an irresistable offer that they can't help but buy your product or service?
I suggest you be that second person.
That's the type of copy and marketing funnels I create. Not some
ordinary run-of-the-mill garbage marketing which couldn't catch the
attention of a prospect if you threw a basketball at their head.
If
you set up your marketing funnel correctly, you'll have at least 3
different paths that a prospect could take. There are more, but these
following 3 at the most very basic paths a prospect should take.
#1 - Lead Generation
#2 -
Sales Letter
#3 - Upsell
Let's say, for example, your
lead generation page gets a 10% conversion rate, your sales letter gets
a 1% conversion rate, and your upsell gets a 20% conversion rate.
That means for every 1,000
people that enter your marketing funnel, you're getting 100 leads, 10
sales and 2 upsells.
Now
at this point most people
would only change their sales page. Ok, so let's say you doubled it.
Now for every every 1,000 people
that enter your marketing funnel, you're getting 100 leads, 20 sales
and 2 upsells.
But wait -
what about the lead generation and upsell pages? They need to be
improved too!
Now
if you double the entire
system, you get this:
For
every 1,000 people that
enter your marketing funnel, you're getting 200 leads, 40 sales and 16
upsells.
So instead of a simple 100% increase in profits, you're actually
getting DOUBLE
the leads, QUADRUPLE
the main product sales and 8x the amount of upsells...
...while spending the exact same amount of money!
Do you
see how insanely powerful
that can be?
The incredible thing is -
having a lead generation letter, salesletter and upsell is the VERY
beginning of what you should have in your business. In one of my
